I collaborated with a freelance copywriter, creating custom graphics to illustrate the concepts, visually reinforcing the message. The guide was used as a content download on the website and paired with a blog post.

Research
AI and Machine Learning were a new concept for me when I started on the Mediafly team. I did some additional research apart from the copy provided to me to try to gain a better understanding of the concepts and see the types of visuals that were related to the concepts.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the branch of computer sciences that emphasizes the development of intelligence machines, thinking and working like humans. For example, speech recognition, problem-solving, learning and planning. (IQVIS)
Machine learning is an application of artificial intelligence (AI) that provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience without being explicitly programmed. Machine learning focuses on the development of computer programs that can access data and use it learn for themselves. (Expert System)
Common apps or software examples that use AI and ML include: Siri, Netflix, Pandora, Nest and Amazon Echo. (IQVIS)
Concept
There are some misconceptions around AI and ML putting them in a negative light. So I created the robot character with a heart made out of gears to make it look fun and friendly. I used it as the main figure throughout to show how AI can act as a "helping hand" by aiding in the sales process.
I created all the illustrations throughout the guide to help explain the concepts through visuals catered specifically to the writing.
Design
The color scheme for the guide came from the Mediafly brand guidelines. When I joined the Mediafly marketing team I did a brand refresh adding different shades of the green and gray core colors to be able to create more layered illustrations that had a cohesive feel. I also added a blue to work as a complementary color for the green which can become overwhelming on it's own. In this case the gray shades worked out well with the gray gradient that gave a metallic feel to the cover. The blue didn't quite fit.
I worked through several different color variations until arriving at the final version with the gray and greens to simplify the graphics.
Working through several rounds of edits with the copywriter we arrived at the final version. The guide was reviewed by the Director of Marketing for final edits and then published on the website. We accomplished the goal of creating an education piece that made the topics more accessible to prospects and clients. Plus I had a great time creating a fun robot!
